Stephen is from Tallaght and is a graduate of UCD.
As an Actor, Stephen has performed in theatres all throughout Ireland and the U.K.
Most notable theatre credits include: Conversations on a Homecoming and A Whistle in the Dark (Druid Theatre Company, DruidMurphy: Plays by Tom Murphy), Stones in his Pockets (Gaiety Theatre, Irish & UK Tour), Alone it Stands (Verdant Productions) Dubliners (The Corn Exchange, Dublin Theatre Festival), Are you there Garth? It’s me Margaret (Gaiety Theatre) and the leading role of ‘Keano’ in the hit Comedy Musical I, Keano (Olympia Theatre).
Stephen’s Film credits include: Between the Canals, King of the Travellers, Stalker and Scratch.
His Television credits include: Ripper Street for the BBC, Amber, Damo & Ivor, Pheasant Island and three out of five seasons of the multi award winning crime drama Love/Hate, all for RTE. Stephen recently appeared on TV3’s award winning show Red Rock as Francis ‘Laser’ Byrne.
Stephen’s Radio credits include: Memento Mori, April Showers and Serenity (All for RTE Drama on One) and Dubliners (Wonderland Productions). Stephen recently played the part of Christy Mahon in a new musical adaptation of ‘The Playboy of the Western World’ for RTE.
Stephen has an M.A in ‘Creative Writing’ from UCD. As a writer, Stephen was the recipient of numerous national awards at University for his plays A Certain Romance, The Billy Goats of Glenview Park, Sherly, La Tristesse Durera and Stained Shirts.
His play A Certain Romance was a Druid Theatre Company ‘Debut’ as part of The Galway Arts Festival in 2008.
His online comedy web series The Goo @thegoo2014 can be seen on YouTube.
His play From Eden ran at Theatre Upstairs in late 2015 to critical acclaim and has appeared on several best of 2015 lists online.
